You’re on your way to geospatial excellence!

Example of a GAPS Report Scoring Table

It’s time to close the gap. Introducing the Geospatial Assessment Progress Score (GAPS). GAPS is a way for your organization to begin benchmarking its geospatial capabilities and creates a means to monitor and revisit the progress along the way. This tool provides a score from 0 to 100 to evaluate how well your organization is doing with GIS. Its primary function is to serve as a strategic planning tool to help decision-makers who are willing to embrace geospatial technology, get a handle on where their greatest needs are, and how they can plan to address those needs. The scoring system provides a list of questions to respond to in 8 different categories or ‘buckets’.Here is a sample of the scoring summary that you receive as a result of the analysis and shows the categories that are evaluated:

Once the questions are answered, interpreting the GAPS analysis is easy. The system provides decision-makers with a report of where their weak areas are, along with recommendations on how to address each category. Cloudpoint’s professional team reviews each analysis individually to ensure the results align with the organization’s needs and resources. Having worked with over 200 municipalities, counties, and campuses throughout the country, the Cloudpoint team has seen a wide variety of GIS programs and is most equipped to help your organization understand how it’s doing compared to your peers. You can also revisit the analysis yearly to track your progress and set clear goals for getting to the next level.
