Every Fall the Illinois GIS Association hosts its annual conference. This year the event was at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville Hotel and Conference center from October 17-19. It was a fantastic event which started with the Monday night social which was sponsored by Cloudpoint Geographics and featured a rousing game of Trivia. Cloudpoint's own Micah Williamson was on the winning team while Joe, Paul, and Matt were all runners up falling 1 point shy of tying Micah. In addition to trivia, there were daily presentations on a wide variety of geospatial topics ranging from UAVs to parcel mapping to utility mapping and much much more.
Both Paul Stephenson and Micah Williamson had presentations at the conference this year. Micah gave a 3 hour workshop on utilizing ArcGIS Online to its fullest abilities, as well as imparting the importance of implementing ArcGIS Online mapping at an organizational level. Paul spoke about his experience converting a client's existing map that was saturated with every layer, into several maps with one layer each. This resulted in the client being able to quickly access and edit their data in a streamlined approach.
The annual ILGISA conference is a tradition that Cloudpoint and the staff look forward to every year. It's always a great way to connect with old friends and current clients to see how the past year has been for everyone. We are eagerly anticipating the 2017 conference which will be help in Normal, IL. If you're in the area next October, make sure to stop by, say hello, and grab a pizza cutter or two.
