We are thankful to announce that we have been able to hire a new GIS Analyst. With the rise in workload for our NG911 clients this fall, Sam is jumping right in to assist them with GIS Data Services.
Sam’s educational background includes:
Undergraduate in Biology with a Co-Major in Environmental Science
Graduate in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Environmental Planning and Conservation
Certificate in Geographic Information Science
(All from Miami Univerisity.)
How he became interested in GIS:
“I have loved maps ever since I was a little kid looking at road maps during long car rides. My favorite type of map is a contour map. Originally, I went to college for Biology and Environmental Science, but I took a GIS course in my Sophomore Year and fell in love with the technology. This led me to pursue a Certification in Geographic Information Science. I think it is awesome how one can create a map and spatially visualize data. All of the analyses that are possible once you spatially visualize data are astounding. I realized the endless possibilities and applications of GIS and have been interested in it ever since.”
